Hi. My name is Max, and I'm researching different paralegal certificate education programs.

One of the things I'm currently trying to understand is what kind of paralegal certification I can attain with a certificate from a college program. I'm in the western mountains, and there definitely aren't many options for programs. None that are ABA-approved, and only one or two apparently that are even NC State Bar certified.

One question I have about paralegal certification relates specifically to North Carolina; is it necessary or even expected for a paralegal employment candidate to have the title of NC Certified Paralegal (NCCP)?

The reason I ask is because, if the NCCP certification isn't really necessary, then my options for a certificate program expand considerably to include online certificate programs through a variety of institutions, versus one or two local community colleges as my only choice (South College in Asheville being the closest).

Thanks for your time.

-Max
